An old shop, Rusheen, Macroom, Co. Cork
I was looking at a panel a friend of mine prepared for his MFIAP submission, Gabriel O’Shaughnessey and was fascinated by his shots of old abandoned houses. So I decided that the next opportunity, I would give it a go. Last weekend I was in Macroom in west Cost and had accesss to an old abandoned shop so these are my first attempt….. Two of the images are HDR, the rest are straight single shots. The black & White processing was done in Silver Efex Pro 2. Apart for the picture that appears in a number ofthe shots, everything else was in the shop and I did a little re-arranging to suit compositions. There was not a lot left of the shop itself, just the old cigarette cabinet.

Your pictures of old shop in Rusheen Co Cork brings back so many memories.
My uncle Matt Kelleher was the owner.
Sad to see it like this. But it’s real. Thank you.

Hi Pat
Thanks for your comments,=. I’m not from the area, but my wife is – she is Patricia Buckley from Leades cross. I’ve fond memories of buying bits and pieces (cigarettes to my shame) from Mrs. Kelleher when she ran the shop.
